— SEEKING SOCIAL WORK OR SOCIAL SERVICE STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH STUDY!
Jewish social workers in Canada and the United States are concerned about the ongoing exclusion of antisemitism from the social work curriculum. This exclusion is especially notable given a strong emphasis on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion studies, which include an in-depth discussion of racism, Islamophobia, anti-Asian hate, homophobia, etc. The Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation is sponsoring a petition and inviting individuals worldwide to inform social work bodies that rates of antisemitism are skyrocketing and there is a need to include Jew-hatred in the curriculum. The petition is not limited to Canadians and Americans. Please sign the petition here. In the province field, please provide your country or state/city.
The Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation also launched a Facebook group for Jews in social work. We invite social workers worldwide to join us in this effort, discuss ways to bring attention to this ongoing omission, share literature, and discuss actions.
Finally, we are also doing a research study, interviewing Canadian Jewish social work students about their experiences in the highly politicized academic environment. Additional information is available here. If you know any Jewish social work students or social service students in Canada who might be interested in participating, please forward them the link. Participants’ privacy will be respected.
