Big Oil’s Green Revolution Has Been Postponed Again, Never Mind the Climate:  Eric Reguly, The Globe and Mail, Jan. 14, 2022 Big Oil wasn’t supposed to be Big Oil by now. The world’s largest stock market-listed oil companies were supposed to be different beasts at this point, in recognition that climate change was a clear and present danger, that crazy-expensive development costs were killing them and that they ultimately could not compete with the state-owned production machines in the desert, such as Saudi Aramco, with ultracheap pumping costs.

Energy Stocks Need to Catch Up:  David Berman, Globe and Mail, Jan. 20, 2022There is a remarkably bullish backdrop developing for Canadian oil producers this year: Rising crude oil prices are now about 70 per cent higher than they were in early 2020, and the International Energy Agency noted on Wednesday that global oil demand this year will exceed levels seen before the pandemic.

Oil Markets May Be Even Tighter Than Forecasters Say;  Julian Lee, Bloomberg News, Jan. 19, 2022 The oil market is getting tighter and there may be even less slack in the system than forecasts suggest.

Canada’s Energy Patch Sees ‘Significant’ Boost in Investment:  Robert Tuttle, Bloomberg News, Jan. 20, 2022 Investment in Canada’s oil and natural gas industry will rise 22 per cent this year to $32.8 billion (US$26.3 billion) amid higher prices for hydrocarbons, according to the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.

David Rosenberg: Junior Mining and Exploration Boom Needed to Push EVS Over the Top:  David Rosenberg, and Ellen Cooper, Financial Post, Jan. 12, 2022 Electric vehicles are quickly becoming mainstream as government subsidies, company investments and consumer demand speed up the transition away from internal combustion engines.
