Daily Briefing: FACULTY TRIVIALIZES CAMPUS ANTISEMITISM

 WORLD’S PROBLEM

WATCH:  The Columbia Protests and the Scourge of Elite anti-Semitism:  Spiked, Apr. 26, 2024 — GB News’ Charlie Peters joins Tom Slater and Fraser Myers for the latest episode of the spiked podcast. They discuss the ‘Gaza solidarity’ encampments springing up on US campuses, the collapse of the SNP-Green coalition agreement and whether cancel culture is ruining comedy.

Douglas Murray on Iran Attack, anti-Israel Marches, and Israel’s Resilience:  Michael Starr, Jerusalem Post, Apr. 26, 2024 — British writer and political commentator Douglas Murray is no stranger to covering war zones.

Northwestern University Bends Knee to Palestinian Protestors in Scary Precedent:  Roger L. Simon, Epoch Times, May 1, 2024 — “You are now entering Northwestern liberated zone,” the scrawled sign says on the university gate, accompanied by a Palestinian flag. True that, superficially anyway.

NYPD’s Bust Up at Columbia Doesn’t Mean This Disgraceful Antisemitic Episode Is Over Michael Goodwin, NY Post, May 1, 2024 — Although the NYPD was finally allowed to do its job at Columbia University, it would be a mistake to believe the disgraceful episode is over.  After all, the pro-Hamas stooges, the complicit faculty and the quisling administrators are still jockeying for power.

Opinion: Why the Gaza War Has Spun Campuses into Chaos:  Fareed Zakaria, CNN, Apr. 26, 2024 —  It’s difficult to know what to make of the turmoil on college campuses these days — the protests, polarization, intimidation and general bitterness. In a revealing article in The Wall Street Journal, higher education reporter Douglas Belkin sets these events against a broader backdrop: the disappearance of a sense of community. He points to research demonstrating that “College students today are lonelier, less resilient and more disengaged than their predecessors … The university communities they populate are socially fragmented, diminished and less vibrant.”

Five for Fighting: A Lone Voice Sings for Israel:  Michael Hennessey, WSJ, Apr. 26, 2024 — The music industry loves a good cause. Band Aid, Live Aid, Farm Aid, Stand Up to Cancer, Hope for Haiti, the Concert for Sandy Relief, the Concert for Ukraine—when the issue is potent enough, big-name musicians from every genre will come, and usually perform for free. All they typically want is to show the world how much they care.
