FM Katz Addresses Special Discussion of the United Nations Security Council

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mar. 11, 2024

“The United Nations has been silent regarding on the actions of Hamas for too long.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs Israel Katz participated this evening (Monday, 11 March 2024) in the special emergency discussion at the UN Security Council on the report on Hamas’ sexual crimes during the October 7 massacre.

Together with the families of the abductees – Eli Albag, father of the abductee Liri Albag, and Aviva Siegel who returned from Hamas captivity and whose husband Keith is still being held captive – FM Katz demanded that the members of the Security Council exert as much pressure as possible on Hamas to immediately and unconditionally release all the abductees, declare Hamas a terrorist organization and impose personal sanctions on its leaders.

Gilad Erdan, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Mai Golan, Minister for Social Equality and Promotion of the Status of Women, and Brig. Gen. (res.) Gal Hirsch were also present at the discussion.
