Daily Briefing: ELITE UNIVERSITIES’ DESTRUCTIVE INFLUENCES EXPOSED

ENOUGH BLAME TO GO AROUND

Why University Presidents are Under Fire:  Fareed Zakaria, CNN, Dec. 10, 2023  When one thinks of America’s greatest strengths, the kind of assets the world looks at with admiration and envy, America’s elite universities would have long been at the top of that list. But the American public has been losing faith in these universities – and with good reason.

Harvard Bans ‘Cisheterosexism’ but Shrugs at Antisemitism: Elise Stefanik, WSJ, Dec. 7, 2023 — What constitutes bullying and harassment at Harvard? A mandatory Title IX training last year warned all undergraduate students that “cisheterosexism,” “fatphobia” and “using the wrong pronouns” qualified as “abuse” and perpetuated “violence” on campus.

Reverse Speech Codes Aren’t the Answer:  Glenn Harlan Reynolds, Instapundit Substack, Dec. 7, 2023 — So the shocking pro-genocide/pro-Palestinian marches at top Ivy League schools have put their administrations into a pretty pickle.

Genocide and Jews at Harvard:  Alex Berenson, Unreported Truths Substack, Dec. 6, 2023 — You all know I believe in free speech. Free speech is a bedrock American right. It includes the right to be wrong, to say offensive or even horrific things in public and in private. In July, I wrote here that freedom of speech is really freedom of thought:

University Presidents Waffled in Condemning Calls For Genocide. Jews Are On Our Own As Much As Ever Dany Bahar, The Forward, Dec. 7, 2023 — Hours after hundreds of white supremacists marched with torches in Charlottesville chanting “Jews will not replace us,” the condemnations started flowing.

Universities Face Congressional Inquiry and Angry Donors Over Handling of Antisemitism:  Alan Blinder, Anemona Hartocollis and Stephanie Saul, NY Times, Dec. 7, 2023 — Harvard, M.I.T. and the University of Pennsylvania on Thursday faced threats from donors, demands that their presidents resign and a congressional investigation as repercussions mounted over the universities’ responses to antisemitism on campus.
